KIIWP2 MATCHING GRANTS

INVESTMENT WINDOWS AND THEIR MATCHING GRANT CEILINGS

Opportunity 1: Post-harvest handling equipment & facilities

1. Eligible investments (one or a combination): Storage facilities, cold storage / cold rooms, drying shelters and drying grounds, combine harvesters, seed threshers and graders, seed treatment and cleaning equipment, sorting, grading, and vibration sieving machines, aflatoxin test kits, moisture meters, weighing scales, and other post-harvest handling equipment.
2. Eligible applicants: Farmer cooperatives, agribusiness companies, and joint ventures engaged in: Maize, Soybeans, Beans, Sweet potatoes, Irish potatoes, Cassava, Rice, Vegetables, and Fruits.
3. Grant support: 50% matching grant for cooperatives, 40% for companies.

5. RWF 58,000,000 (Storage facilities, cold storage / cold rooms)
6. RWF 116,000,000 (Mechanical Dryers)
7. RWF 29,000,000 (Drying shelters, cemented grounds, and threshers).
8. Crop insurance support: Applicants under this category are also eligible for 50% subsidy of their crop insurance contribution, at a grant ceiling of RWF 14,000,000.

Opportunity 2: Small Scale Irrigation Technologies

1. Eligible investments: Drip Irrigation System, Sprinkler Irrigation System, Hydrants with hose pipes, Gated pipe System, Rain hose Irrigation System, Portable Rain Gun (small-scale), and other irrigation technologies.
2. Eligible applicants: Individual farmers, groups of farmers, cooperatives of farmers, agribusiness companies, and joint ventures engaged in the mentioned value chains in Kayonza District.
3. Grant support: 50% for cooperatives, groups of farmers, and men above 30 years; 70% for women & youth; and 40% for companies and joint ventures.
4. Grant ceiling: RWF 7,250,000 for cooperatives, groups of farmers, and men above 30 years; RWF 10,150,000 for women & youth; and RWF 5,800,000 for companies and joint ventures.

Opportunity 3: Mechanization

1. Target crops: Maize, Soybeans, Beans, Sweet potatoes, Irish potatoes, Cassava, Rice, Vegetables, and Fruits.
2. Grant support: 50% for cooperatives, groups of farmers, and men above 30 years; 70% for women & youth; and 40% for companies and joint ventures.
3. Grant ceiling: RWF 7,250,000 for cooperatives, groups of farmers, and men above 30 years; RWF 10,150,000 for women & youth; and RWF 5,800,000 for companies and joint ventures.
4. Eligible investments: Agriculture mechanization equipment (land preparation, planting, crop protection, harvesting, and in-field transportation tools and equipment).
5. Eligible applicants: Individual farmers, groups of farmers, cooperatives of farmers, agribusiness companies, and joint ventures engaged in the mentioned value chains in Kayonza District.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

For Individual Farmers

1. Request letter signed by the individual farmer.
2. Commitment intent form
3. Copy of National ID.
4. Land title and/or lease agreement of 5 years from the date of application for the matching grant, located in Kayonza District.

For Farmer Cooperatives

1. Letter signed by all members confirming willingness to invest jointly.
2. Copy of National ID of the group representative.
3. RCA registration certificate.
4. Land title and/or lease agreement of 5 years from the date of application for the matching grant, located in Kayonza District (where the investment requires land).
5. Commitment intent form

For Companies

1. National IDs of shareholders/promoters.
2. RDB registration certificate.
3. Land title and/or lease agreement of 5 years from the date of application for the matching grant, located in Kayonza District (where the investment requires land).
4. Commitment intent form

For Joint Ventures

1. ID of the private sector promoter.
2. Land title and/or lease agreement of 5 years from the date of application for the matching grant, located in Kayonza District (where the investment requires land).
3. Letter signed by the private sector actor and the cooperative/smallholder farmers confirming the joint venture arrangement.
4. RCA registration certificate of the cooperative (if applicable).
5. RDB registration certificate of the private sector actor.
6. Commitment intent form

For farmer groups

1. Land title and/or lease agreement of 5 years from the date of application for the matching grant, located in Kayonza District (where the investment requires land)
2. Commitment intent form
3. Letter signed by all members confirming willingness to invest jointly
4. Copy of National ID of group representative
5. Group members' signature and their contribution form

LAND REQUIREMENTS

For investments requiring land (e.g., storage facilities, drying grounds, shelters, irrigation infrastructure):

1. Land must be located in Kayonza District.
2. Copy of a valid land title or a notified lease agreement.
3. The lease agreement's duration should not be less than 5 years from the date of the matching grant request.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Selected applicants with promising proposals will receive support from Cordaid to develop or refine their business plans, and will be visited and notified for the next stage.
2. Approved applicants will sign contracts with Kilimo Trust.
3. Applicants must implement their own contribution within two (2) months from contract signing.
4. After verification and valuation of the applicant's investment, Kilimo Trust will disburse the grant.
5. Both the applicant and Kilimo Trust will pay directly to the supplier/contractor engaged by the applicant.
